The Birth Of Molly

The Birth Of Molly

“Our daughter, Molly, was born on the 16th August and we’ve been meaning to get in contact to let you know what a positive experience we had and to thank you for all your help in preparation for the big day!
My waters broke at midday on the 15th August and after a trip to Pembury to be assessed, it was confirmed that my contractions were starting. This was exciting news for Jon and I as we’d been religiously listening to your hypnobirthing tracks and practising our breathing techniques so we felt ready and relaxed for what was to come.
On returning home we had some food then went for a walk in Calverley Park, it was lovely and calm despite my contractions getting stronger. We went home once my contractions were making walking uncomfortable and popped the hypnobirthing music track on loop- this had such a strong effect of relaxing us both and getting us into a calm mindset.
I had a few baths, took 3 paracetamol and managed to stay at home until 10pm, at which point we went back to Pembury (the phone operator in triage did her best to discourage me from coming due to me sounding so calm over the phone!) to find I was 5cm dilated so was taken straight up to the delivery suite.
I hopped into the birth pool and continued to listen to the music and do our breathing exercises. Our midwife couldn’t believe how calm and composed we both were so just sat back and watched us- we were in the zone!
About 10 minutes before Molly was born I had to leave the water and lie sideways on a bed as her heart rate had slowed right down (clearly we had kept things too relaxed!). She then arrived after one final push, calmly and peacefully into the world!
I really don’t think that without having done your hypnobirthing course I could have had such a calm, relaxed labour where I felt in complete control and had the confidence just to let my body do its thing! Jon was a great birth partner, he used all the techniques taught to keep me calm and feeling safe. My experience was all round extremely positive!”
